Honestly, I sometimes wish I had a little less of “it all”! A little less teen issue’s, less padding on the hips, less life lessons to learn. Then I think what does having it all really mean?
As a certified life and transition coach I have led many workshops with such topics such as; setting personal and professional goals, training leaders, and career transition. At the beginning of the workshop we talk about goals each member has for his/her life.
The first time I did this I expected to hear things like,
• earn more money,
• create more time for family and friends,
• achieve life balance
• get into shape.
Instead they said this; “A Sense of Peace”. I was surprised at first. We are deluged with marketing emails, and advertisements about having it all and to go fearlessly after “it all”, so I expected to hear goals consistent with this message.
After hearing this answer numerous times at workshops I realized it makes perfect sense. What do we all strive for? Ultimately it is a Sense of Peace. Upon further questioning here is the feedback about achieving a sense of peace in life.
Women want:
• Good friends to support, who support herHave-It-All 2
• Live life in alignment with her values and passion
• Feel happy and healthy herself
• To know her family is healthy and happy
• To have the finances and resources to take care of herself and family
• Someone(s) to share her life with
• To eliminate stress and stressors in life that get in the way of living the life they love
This is why the achieving financial empowerment is so important. When you become financially empowered you can get what is important to you in life. You have the tools and support system to achieve a Sense of Peace. This does not mean that all your “problems” will automatically disappear; it means that when life happens you are equipped to handle whatever happens. You reach into your box of tools and out to your support system and do whatever you need to do to address it and get right back on track toward the life you love.
